ABOUT US

We are the pioneer choral group in the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of the Pillar - Imus Cathedral in Cavite. Himig Batingaw was founded in March of 1979 by members of the Legion of Mary. In the first few years of the choir's existence, they conducted rehearsals at the church belfry; hence the name Himig (melody) and Batingaw (peal of bells) was born. The choir is very influential in the rise and development of choral music in the parish. It has introduced new pieces for liturgical use most of which are composed or arranged for the group and has graduated noted local musicians from its ranks.

In the past years, the chorale group has joined different chorale festivals and won in various competitions; namely, Himig ng Kabataan Alay Kay Don Bosco, Forte Chorale Competition in De La Salle – Dasmariñas Cavite, Vivere Hotel and Resorts Annual Chorale Competition, First Grand Chorale Competition in Imus City Mall, Wikawit: Tagisan ng Korong Kabitenyo. In 2019, the group bagged 2 awards: The Noel Bazaar Christmas Competition and The Pioneer St. Market Mandaluyong Chorale Competition.

The group has performed in several prestigious organizations; the Department of Tourism, Lazada Philippines, Vivere Hotel and  Resorts, Pico De Loro Beach and Country Club, and Imus City Tourism Office to name a few.

At present, the choir is composed of talented students and young professionals from different fields giving service to God. The Choir sings regularly at the 8:00 AM Sunday Mass at Imus Cathedral.
